Crew training in bilge water treatment
Marinfloc recently welcomed a new group of engineers to Varekil for a two-day training course in bilge water treatment.
As Marinfloc celebrates 30 years in 2026, we are proud to have trained more than 1,100 crew members here in Varekil and onboard vessels worldwide.
This time a leading US cruise operator sent eight 3rd engineers representing five vessels from their fleet. The participants came from the UK, Poland, Romania, Italy, Bulgaria and Panama, creating a great environment for sharing operational experience.
The training combines theory and practical demonstrations, covering topics such as bilge water tank arrangements, emulsified bilge water, chemical treatment and operational challenges onboard.
During the practical sessions participants perform flocculation tests and observe how factors such as chemical dosing and temperature affect the treatment process.
The course concludes with a demonstration of the Marinfloc oily water separator CD unit and the WhiteBox® monitoring system, showing how treated bilge water is verified before discharge overboard.
