Successful Engine Shop Test at CSE Qingdao, China

We are pleased to announce the successful completion of another engine shop test for EGR bleed-off water treatment. A Marinfloc WTS 1.0 water treatment system was tested at CSE Qingdao, China, to verify its performance in treating EGR bleed-off water for MAN-ES EcoEGR engines. These engines utilize Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) in both Tier II and Tier III operations, optimizing fuel efficiency while reducing NOx emissions. This marks the fourth test we have been invited to participate in, following previous successful tests in Denmark, Korea, and Sweden.

Test Overview

The test was conducted on a MAN-ES 7S60ME-C10.5-GI-EcoEGR engine during an engine bed test, with a fully operational EcoEGR system running at various engine loads. The EGR circuit regulated the pH levels, and the water overflowed from the buffer tank into a 1.0 m³ IBC. The Marinfloc WTS 1.0 system then processed the water from the IBC. Testing was carried out over four days, treating different types of EGR bleed-off water:

January 13th – LSFO as fuel in Tier II mode
January 14th – LSFO as fuel in Tier III mode
January 15th – LNG as fuel in both Tier II and Tier III modes

Results

The Marinfloc WTS 1.0 system successfully treated the wastewater to 0 ppm oil content throughout the entire test period. A total of 1 m³ of water was processed across all test conditions, confirming the system’s effectiveness and reliability.

One notable observation was the difference in soot content between LSFO and LNG batches. However, this did not impact the flocculation process, as the soot was effectively captured in the flocs and removed before reaching the polishing filters. Dosage settings remained consistent, and sludge generation was identical across all test conditions.

Conclusion

The successful test at CSE Qingdao further validates Marinfloc’s industry-leading technology for treating EGR bleed-off water in MAN-ES EcoEGR engines. The results reaffirm our commitment to providing high-performance, reliable, and sustainable water treatment solutions for the maritime industry.
