Marinfloc Delivers Wastewater Treatment Plant to Port of Trelleborg
A few weeks ago the new wastewater treatment plant from Marinfloc was approved and handed over to Port of Trelleborg´s.
Port of Trelleborg has been receiving wastewater from ships for a long time. Since June 2021, a complete ban on the discharge of sewage into the Baltic Sea has been in effect, leading more ships to offload their wastewater at the port. Today, the wastewater is routed to the municipal wastewater treatment plant, which takes care of the water treatment process. Sustainability and environmental responsibility are paramount for the port, and as such, Trelleborg's Port is installing its own wastewater treatment facility within the harbor to ensure the wastewater is treated according to the best available technology. All wastewater in the new harbor will, therefore, be connected to the new treatment plant before being further pumped to the municipal treatment plant in Trelleborg. Marinfloc has been at the forefront of wastewater treatment solutions for ships and offshore platforms for a quarter of a century.
"We are delighted to share our expertise and experience in wastewater treatment, which enables us to build and customize treatment plants on land with our innovative technology," says Martin Gombrii, the CEO of Marinfloc Sales and Production.
The treatment plant is designed to handle 400 cubic meters per day, which translates to 146,000 cubic meters per year. This initiative is a testament to the commitment of both Marinfloc and Trelleborg's Port to environmental conservation and sustainable practices. By investing in advanced wastewater treatment technology, they are not only complying with regulations but also contributing to the well-being of the Baltic Sea and the local community. This innovative wastewater treatment plant is a significant step towards cleaner and more environmentally responsible maritime operations.
