Marinfloc has received updated DNVGL type approval certificates for our sewage treatment system model ASTS to also include the Phosphorous and Nitrogen requirements as per MEPC 227(64) paragraph 4.2 for the Baltic sea requirements. The new requirements will come into force by 2019 for new build passenger vessels and 2021 for existing passenger vessels. The effluent levels were well below the requirements and all testing was conducted onboard a ship during normal operation.
The ASTS system is designed exclusively for marine and is a highly effective treatment system with a small foot print. The system involves nitrogen removal through bacterial activities ( nitrification & denitrification) and phosphorous removal through flocculation. No membranes are required which minimizes the operational cost and maintenance.
